WHEN THE LOW FUEL INDICATOR LIGHT DOESN’T WORK
It’s finally the weekend! With everyone’s schedules getting busier, we’ve had less and less time for fun activities with the kids, so this weekend we decided to get out of the house. No one had any plans or obligations until 5:30 pm Sunday, so we were outta there!
Jason had mentioned the Texas Motor Speedway was hosting the Pate Swap Meet all weekend so we decided to check it out. We weren’t 100% sure on the happenings of the swap meet, but we knew there would be cars and all of the kids love cars. Klahdia is looking to purchase her first car, Landon and Karter are typical boys who love all things with motors, Audrey doesn’t care what we do as long as she’s with Jason and I and Ella, well she’s into WHATEVER Jason is into. Although it was a cool 62 outside, there were gusts of winds up to 22mph, so I didn’t expect to be there for long. Maybe just enough time to get a couple of pictures, then on to our next adventure.
Well…we made it alright. We got just inside the gates. Just through the stop sign…and the van died. Uh huh. We ran out of gas, AGAIN.
Did you notice I said, again? I’ll admit, I drive on fumes most of the time. I’ve always done it. I don’t know why. Just have. Well, unfortunately, the low fuel indicator light on our trusty kidnapper van no longer works either. Coupled with the fact that fuel isn’t my priority when driving and three of us drive the van at any given time, we tend to run out of gas a few times too many. Jason, on the other hand, has made a point to let me know that in his 44 years, he had NEVER run out of gas….until now. BTW, he was the driver.
Fortunately, Buc-ee’s was literally right across the road from the speedway, which was on our adventure list for the day anyway. After Jason and the three oldest pushed the kidnapper van to safety, we all headed out for the rescue to Buc-ee’s. Check out my post on that adventure here. Unfortunately, due to the impending weather from the night before and the gusting wind Sunday, by the time we made it back, most everyone was gone. Not all was lost. We had an adventure to Buc-ee’s, got our exercise in and stopped at the park on the way home. Most importantly, we managed to enjoy time together.
